Bonnie Poteet

Bonnie Poteet is a cardiovascular genetic counselor focusing on inherited heart disease. Genetic Counseling plays a vital role in identifying inherited cardiac conditions, assessing familial risk, guiding genetic testing, and providing counseling to patients and families who may be affected. Bonnie sees patients with a personal or family history of cardiomyopathies, heart failure, arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), cholesterol disorders, and vascular conditions. Bonnie’s father died from a heart attack at age 45, following the same fate of his own father at age 53. This lived experience inspired Bonnie to develop the Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Genetics Program.
