Northside hospitals among Newsweek’s best for maternity care

Northside Hospital Cherokee Women's Center

The Northside Hospital system has been named to Newsweek’s 2026 list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals, recognizing excellence in care for mothers and newborns. Northside Hospital Atlanta, Northside Hospital Forsyth, Northside Hospital Cherokee and Northside Hospital Gwinnett are on the list.

The annual ranking, developed in partnership with Statista, highlights leading hospitals nationwide that demonstrate strong performance across pregnancy, delivery and postpartum care.

The recognition is based on a comprehensive methodology that includes a nationwide survey of healthcare professionals, patient experience data and key quality metrics related to maternity care.

Northside Hospital has long been a leader in women’s services, with Northside Hospital Atlanta delivering more babies than any other hospital in the United States and serving as a destination for advanced maternal care. More than 26,000 babies were born across the Northside system in 2025.

Across all four campuses that offer inpatient maternity services, patients benefit from a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach that includes obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, neonatologists and specially trained nurses. This integrated model supports both routine and high-risk pregnancies while keeping families close to home throughout their care.

“Being named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals is a meaningful recognition of our team’s unwavering commitment to providing safe, compassionate and family-centered care during one of life’s most important moments," said Jill Sams, director of women's services, Northside Hospital Forsyth. "This honor reflects our dedication to creating an environment that supports both clinical excellence and a meaningful experience for our patients and their families. We are proud to serve our community by supporting mothers, newborns and families with excellence at every step of their journey.”

"We appreciate receiving this recognition for the excellent and comprehensive care our staff and physicians provide to our patients," said Trish Witcher, director of women's services, Northside Hospital Atlanta.

“This year, we celebrate 35 years serving the Gwinnett community and surrounding areas with clinical excellence and legacy in maternal and newborn care," said Keri Boatright, director of women's services, Northside Hospital Gwinnett. "We are particularly proud of our work toward improving maternal cardiac OB care, recognizing the complexities of pregnancy and postpartum risks related to delivery and childbirth. Aligning Northside Gwinnett's legacy and expertise with the quality and clinical standards of Northside Hospital makes Gwinnett a primary choice in the local community. We recognize every family’s journey is unique and we are honored to be chosen for your delivery experience.”

The inclusion of multiple Northside hospitals on the 2026 list underscores the strength and consistency of maternity services across the system and reinforces Northside’s role as a trusted provider for families throughout metro Atlanta and beyond.
